MF 65 + New Holland 847 auto tie round baler.

I have a few questions and Just know the answers lay someplace in these forums.

I own a Massey 65. It is a good running old tractor with one set of rear remote Hydraulics. I recently purchased a 847 round baler (for $700 :D ) The baler has one set of Heavy Hydraulic lines to lift the door I assume. It has Hydraulic tie and the photos I see of them there is 2 sets of lines one heavy set and one lighter or thinner set. I believe My baler is missing one set of lines.

After reading some about the hydraulics in these older tractors and thinking I need a second set of remotes to run my baler I wonder if a front mounted pump would better serve my purpose.

So the questions are: Where do I find the parts, mainly the pump? Is there anybody who has done this that has some pointers? and most importantly is there another way to install another set of remotes without a front mounted pump?

Thanks

Does your tractor have the diverter valve under the seat with a single spool valve mounted on the fender, or does it have just the valve under the seat?

I have pictures.

Is your 847 a auto-tie or hydraulic tie? I think if it's an auto you will only have the two hoses. Or at least mine does. Also I think theirs more you can do with your valve on your 65. I'm thinking you can plumb two more remotes but I could be wrong.

I have a gas mf65, when bought, it had manual steering, no front loader. At that
time, before power steering was added, steering linkage would get in way of center
crankshaft, so you could only turn steering so far. But since I added power
steering, changed a steering arm, I am in the process of changing from pto pump to
front mount pump for the front loader. My mechanic has been sick, so that project is
on hold. You may have to go to used tractorplace to find parts. Surplus Center has
pumps.

The 847 is a auto tie.

I think I could plump in 2 more lines to the Hydraulic controls the 65 currently has. The inboard lever runs the 3 point and has 2 plugs in the top of the valve. The outboard lever runs the rear remotes.

Would a diverter valve be needed to switch from 3 point control to rear remote if I tap into the block above the inboard lever?

I am looking for Manuals to the 847.

Thanks I am headed out today to pick up a older 2 wheeled Sickle bar. I will post photo's of the Baler today.

I prefer the small diverter valve, and mount the spool valves for the remotes on the fender. The setup you have makes getting on, and off the tractor kind of awkward. Plus you are probably looking back when working the valve(s) while you are reaching forward to work the valve(s), do that 50 - 100 times, or more when running the round baler.

I agree, this is the way I was given the old Massey. Moving the valves sounds great. I will start digging through google looking for ways to accomplish that. All I need is a few pictures and I can copy that.

Thanks guys. Just for fun here is a pic of the Sickle bar I bought today. Wile I was there buying that the guy offered to sell me a fairly nice old ground driven rubber wheeled Hay Rake. For another 250 how could I say no. So my little operation is all in place just a few repairs and I am in the hay rolling business for 1200 total.

I see that set up has a hose running back to the case under the seat. My set up has a plug in that location.

My set up has one lever for the 3 point (inboard) and one for rear remote (outboard) and they work in tandem or at the same time.

So if I add a diverter valve I can relocate my current dual spool valve that is case mounted placing the diverter valve to that location on the case. Then run a hose to the dual spool valves bottom inlet. I assume that the dual spool valve has a outlet on the bottom that currently goes back into the case to run the 3 point. That is the outlet that needs ran to the now plugged hole under my seat.

What will the diverter valve add in function that my current set up does not do? Is the plugged ports on top of my spool valves inboard spool a location I can run remotes from. I assume those inboard ports wold function at the same time as the 3 point.

Thanks
