MF285 clutch release bearing

I have a new to me 285 that I now have in my shop and am doing some maintenance on. I noticed this decal on the side of the clutch housing about greasing the release bearing every 100 hours. This is first for me. Is it really necessary to do it every 100 hours? If so, how do I access the bearing (the manual says nothing about it)? Is it through the hole in the housing with the silver metal plug at the bottom left of the photo? Any help would be appreciated.

on the bottom of your clutch housing (right below your photo) will be a rectangular cover plate with 4 bolts. The grease nipple may be mounted on this plate, or near it. if not... Open the plate up and you should see inside, your clutch release mechanism...should be a grease nipple there.

Thanks Wayne. Unfortunately the loader frame covers up the clutch inspection opening so it won't be likely to see grease every 100 hours.

Hello,
Have you actually checked under the loader beam? Some MF loaders, the UK 40 and 80 models in particular had a small plate retained by two 5/16" bolts located in between the main bolts which allowed access to the clutch unit for inspection.

Thanks! I just had a look and there is an access panel for a grease fitting built into the loader cross beam. Sometimes the obvious is overlooked. I just assumed it was a solid piece of steel under there like all my other loaders, but then this is the first time I have had a Massey loader on a Massey tractor. It's nice when the designers and engineers get it right.
