Massey 175 Fuel Gauge

Trying to fix my friends fuel gauge on his 175, ordered a new gauge and sending unit, old gauge only had two wires and new looks like three wires. One terminal is labeled "T", another is "B", and a third, located at the bottom of the unit is labeled 12V. Looks like one is "T"ank, the other is "B"attery, but why the third, Any advise would be appreciated. But remember, I'm not an electrician, I know positive, negative and continuity, sometimes. I do know that the sending unit uses resistance to tell the gauge how much fuel is registering. That's the extent of my electrical knowledge. Any help would be appreciated.

The third post would most likely be for a ground wire to ground back to tractor frame or battery ground if gauge was used on tractor with plastic dash. Can be used to provide a good ground if currently not grounded good.
