MAssey 230 remote hydraulics

I have a Massey 230 I want to added remote for lifting a planter and maybe a wheel disc. I have ordered a 3 way divertor to replace the cover plate. If I plumb from the divertor to a single spool 2 way valve and have to put the lift in "continuous pump", do I need an open center spool valve so the pump isn't working against the relief on the spool valve?
I have a single spool valve that I had rigged up on the 8N but not sure if it is open center yet.

I would also like to know if there is an easy access for a return line to the transmission case.

You want an open center valve.

Open center valve with a power beyond sleeve?

The valve I have IS open center. I don't need power beyond as I have another port available on the diverter valve if I want to run something else. I still don't see an easy way to "dump" the return line from my remote spool without goin in the fill hole.

Look below the seat mount on the left hand side of the lift cover. There should be a pipe plug you can remove, and use for a return.
