Ordering parts for MF 135

Massey Ferguson 135: 1964 through 1975. My tractor (just purchased) was manufactured in late 1966. Serial number is: 641014575, putting mine at the end of those 135's made in 1966.

Question: When ordering parts for these tractors, is the serial number critical in getting the correct part needed for my tractor. I would think there are several variations of the thousands of 135's made in those years.

Looking forward to the forum. Thanks

I have tried to navigate the agco site as a GUEST user several times and find the site impossible. most likely it is my ignorance but I have had no luck bringing up a parts page.

Welcome, Massey135.

Parts should not be a problem. AGCO seems to do a very good job of keeping parts available, and there re a LOT of aftermarket parts as well.

First thing to not only help you, but anyone you are getting parts from, is to get a parts book. One of the joys of owning older equipment is there is probably no knowing whether the parts on your tractor are original, or if they've been replaced by something from another model year, short of checking the parts book against the numbers on the part you are looking to replace. Manufacturers OFTEN updated a part. A new part (new number) is not necessarily a wrong part. The parts book will tell you what newer parts will work for your year, and what are specific to it. For some parts, there are even newer versions of a part than listed in parts book, but you'll at least be able to start with a number that hasn't been superceded 6 or more times.
