Broken Spring need replacement

Hello, I am in the process of replacing my Hydraulic lift cylinder and I noticed that the spring that holds some sort of nut is broken (#49 in pic). I found the part online but I was curious if I could just make one?

Thank you

That is the tension spring for the adjuster. You can improvise something if you want. It just need to keep the adjuster from turning once you do the final adjustments. Of course original is hassle free but up to you.

Hi, it's always possible to make something with a bit of improvisation in the field and a bit of ingenuity. Realistically though it is far better to replace the spring and the spiral rivet for the cost of them. Remember it will need to adjusted when in place. If your fix fails you will probably need to remove the cover again.

When you do the final adjustments, that lever moves back kind of close to the bracket. It may work but you'll have to see if what ever you use will clear properly. If you do use a small nut and bolt make sure to use locktite.
