massey 231 alternator

Hi, My 1997 Massey Ferguson 231 needs a new alternator. This tractor was built in Poland by the URSUS company. The original alternator is an Elmot a124-44a 2420000. This is a polish built alternator, that does not appear to be available in North America. I have received 4 alternators cross referenced to the elmot number, none of which fit. The replacement alternators are all called Marrelli type and are too long; they interfere with the power steering pump. I have combed the internet up and down with no solution.

Has anyone had any experience changing out the alternator on this tractor.
Thank you
John Wilson

I replaced the one on my 231 with a 1 wire Delco alternator I thick I did half to alter the mount some but not a big deal

As an alternative to the original one search for this " Hitachi alternator wiring instructions needed " in the search box at the top of the page.. The advantage is, it's physically smaller than the Delco .

Hi Dave : Would you happen to have the part number for the Delco alternator that fit? Length and pulley position are important.

That sure would be helpful.

Thanks
John
