My dad has a massey harris 44 diesel with power steering. We got it this past summer and noticed that it steered really hard no matter the adjustment. Today we got around to tearing it apart and the bearings on the worm gear shaft are shot but thats not the big problem. The tapered part on the worm gear towards the rear has chunks broke off of it like someone has been in there before. The front is not in the best shape either. I pressed the shaft out of the worm gear but do not see how remove tapered pieces if possible at all. Is there a way? Or am I best off trying to find another one? Or some other way one of you may know?

also change the bearing down at the bottom of the pedestal between the front wheel they are never greased and are allways shot
