MF253 question

Howdy all, Deere guy with a question on a MF 253 Great Briton made. Got roped into fixing this one pro bono. So, first question. Where is the trans safety switch? Trans is a 8 speed mechanical shuttle. So it has a 4 speed lever and a hi-lo lever, plus the shuttle lever. I don't see a switch on the shuttle linkage. The free AGCO parts lookup shows it on the front of the trans top cover. I didn't see anything there, but the air cleaner is there covering things up. If it's there, I'd like some confirmation before I go digging. Thanks.

It depends on what year it was built.

Thanks. I must have a "late" machine then, as I remember seeing those plugs in the case. I'll have to look at the front of the shift cover closer.

Found it inside the support for the steering motor. It was OK. Turns out there are two spade terminals on the starter. Switched the solenoid wire to the other terminal and it cranked right up. Now I just have to install new bearings on the front axle swivel housings. Do you know those bearings go bad if you NEVER grease them?!!! Especially with a loader on it... Luckily the swivel pins are OK.

Axle pivot is so easy on the smaller MFs....remote hose mount! You can grease the whole front end in less than a minute while standing on your feet!
