Hello,
everyone I Aim working on a 1978 Massey feguson 230 gas with continetal z145 motor and would like to set up front mount hydraulics to run the front loader.Has anyone installed the hydraulic plate adapter that mounts onto the crank pulley. I notice there is very little clearance between the crank pulley and the axle crattle. I thought I would try grinding material away on the back side of the axle crattle for clearance. I dont want to unbolt the front axle and pull it forward just to get the hydraulic plate adapter bolted to the crank shaft pully . Does anyone have a good method for installing the hydraulic plate adapter ? nathan

Does the crankshaft pulley have the holes drilled, and tapped for the adapter to bolt on (some do, some don't). You shouldn't have to grind on anything, or unbolt the front axle support for the drive adapter to go on, but it is a tight fit.

I might already have one of those adapters on the crank shaft pully there is some type of metal plate recessed into the pully. I tried to screw the drive shaft that has the left handed threads and the female socket on the shaft bottoms our against the axle housing so apparently I have a drive shaft that is to short.

It has it, the pump driveshaft uses left hand thread. Now you just need the pump, longer driveshaft, and a pump mount unless it is already has one. Some will bolt right up to the front axle support, some need a adaptor plate. Most pumps MF uses are around 20 gpm.

ok update my crank pully does not have adapter plate it had what appears to be a assembly plate of some kind so you can turn the crank with a wrench . SSb tractor supplied the hydraulic drive shaft which is too short found what I think is the correcrt hydraulic drive shaft online part numeber A-707166M92. My questions are does anyone know what hydraulic shaft part number I should get and does the outside diamter of shaft have a slip fit/ bearing guide fit with with the axle bushing, because, I can see where it would get suffienct grease from the axle pivot points.

The adaptor plate bolted to the front pulley should look like this.

How long is the drive shaft you have now? Don't forget that the pump input shaft will stick out of the back side of the mounting plate. If the drive shaft is too long it will bottom out on the input shaft of the pump which is bad a thing!

With the current shaft I have now the axle housing bottoms out against the hub socket which is welded to the drive shaft the over all length of the current drive shaft is 11.375 which would be enough if the hub socket would not bottom out. The shaft I need has to have a shoulder length of at least 10.5 ,11.0 to work this measurement was taken from the cranks shaft pulley to front of axle housing.

The pump driveshaft does not use any bushing between it, and the center of the pivot pin. If the pump driveshaft is off center either the pivot bushings, and or the pivot pin are worn excessively. If the pivot bushings, and or pivot pin shows wear they need to be replaced. When the pivot bushings, and pivot are not worn the pump driveshaft should run right down the center of the pivot pin.

Nice drawing I don't have the mounting bracket for the hydraulic pump that is something that I Aim going to fabricate. The distance from the end of the shaft to the pump can be ajustable, because, the female socket on the drive shaft can take a keyed shaft or a spline. I will have some kind of moreflex coupler on the pump to allow for slight misaglinment that I might have.

You can shorten one of these down so you can adapt it to the pump to fit your needs. These drive shafts should be plain old steel that can be welded, or machined.

Now is also a VERY good time to put a new alternator belt on it.. It's no fun removing the pump just to do that!
