UK Model 245?

I looked at a burnt Massey tonight. They said it was a 245, but it has rear wheels that look different than most 245 i have seen. They look like UK style wheels. Did they make a UK version of the 245 or would it be a different model. It also has a hand brake just ahead and left of the seat, just behind/ beside the shift levers. I checked tractor data and cant find anything.
Thanks Brian

Hello Brian,
The MF 245 was not offered in the UK although it was probably made at Banner Lane in Coventry. The model numbers
for tractors that were to be exported were changed slightly to reflect the differences in lighting requirements
and road markings for example although this was not done with the 100 series but they of course were made in the
UK, France or the US. The standard 240 has 6.00-16 front and 12.4/11-28 rear tyres. The standard handbrake is
attached at the front of the hydraulic cover by two 7/16" bolts. The handle is cranked whereas most French and
Industrial ones had a straight handle. A photo of the UK 240 is attached. There are cab variations.
How burnt is burnt? They can be an absolute nightmare to clean for repainting especially if it has been allowed
to start rusting. You will probably have to rely on second hand parts if anything of significance has been burnt.
Will try and post a photo of the standard UK handbrake. The attached photo is of a 165 handbrake which is the
same. The only difference is that the rods go directly to the brake arms.

I understood the 245 was built in the US for the US and Canada market to replace the 135.
We didn't get the 240 until 1983 or so. 240 was UK import, where the 135 was built in USA and in UK. We have both variants in Canada, and some UK 135s ended up in the US.

135-245-240 where UK went 135-240

What do you mean "UK" wheels

Hi, I won't argue with you on that but as far as I am aware a number of non-uk models originated in the UK. And yes,
the 240 and its 2HP bigger and 4WD option the 250 largely replaced the 135 in the UK. Banner Lane tractors may well
have been exported directly to Canada.

I think the 245's etc built in US were on UK skid units anyways. Sheet metal, wiring and tires added in US.

We had UK built 135s here and US ones. They are common enough that "UK 135" and "US 135" are a must be used term when describing a 135.
