135 fuel line questions

I am working on a ffuel priming issue on my just overhauled Perkins 152 engine. The fuel line from tank to fuel pump and line from fuel pump to fuel filter were hard to get off. They are steel lines with flared end but they also have rubber grommets on the end going into the female fittings ? My question is, are the flared fittings correct on the fuel lines ? I have never seen flared fittings with rubber grommets. Dick

I don't have a 135 but have several other MFs like that. The lines do have a flare and the rubber grommet or olive. They can be a bugger to get apart. I've bloodied my knuckles a few times getting them apart.

The old rubber line sleeves may need broken apart and pried out with an ice pick, that's how I get them out. Perkins used that sealing system on both 1/4 and 5/16 fuel lines, the rubber sleeve is the same OD for both but the ID is changed.

If you can't find new olive seals, I've found that cutting pieces of suitable sized PUR tube works as well.
