I don't know if the keeper is on top of the pinion gear or underneath it, but it looks like there is one there somewhere.

My guess is the pinion slips off the shaft first, then you remove the "c" clip.

You have to take all the pieces out the top. There should be a cover on top, that you remove, inside will be a snap ring, then most of the parts will come out the top hole. Make sure you put the power rack and power rack gear, back in time when you re-assemble. Should be timing marks on them.

There were two different steering boxes that could be used, both have a top bolt on cap that needs removed. One uses a disc type plug in the center that needs removed for top shaft snap ring removal. If there's no plug then remove the four bolts that holds the cap, pull it off then you will see the snap ring and washer. According to the parts list tractors with cabs have the center disc plug.

questions about this steering system, when tractor is sitting still , should it be hard to turn the steering wheel, noting when I tap the throttle now you can move the wheels can you adjust the power steering pump so it moves easier on these models.

If the front spindles are lubed well, not dry then it should steer setting still at idle. If it steers better when cold, or needs engine sped up a bit that's a sign the power steering pump is getting worn.
