enjoy site just do not post much. My neighbor bought a 135D with manual steering which is very stiff. The front end is good. We believe the problem is in the steering box. Is this a problem on these models.Is there anything we need to look for if we take it apart. I have a 135D with PS and have never had a problem with it. Any advise would be appreciated.
 
The manual steering gearbox never gave much trouble. I've seen more issues with the PS models. Dealer I worked for years ago had one that exploded the top when the owner's son started playing with the pump relief valve, and when the pressure was too much the top rack support plate broke away from the top of the box. The original trouble were the axle spindle ends were dry and stiff. Only way to find that for sure is disconnect each drag link ball joint, then see how the spindles and box work separately. The spindle lower thrust bearings may be rough too, causing hard steering. Worth a look..
 
X3.. Just to add a quick suggestion.. Jack the front of the tractor off the ground while doing the tests. Things should move very easy and roll the steering wheel with one finger if everything is good. Check your pivot pin and bushing too as that can make steering harder.
