MF 180 no steering

MF 180 power steering line had a leak, reservoir ran out of fluid. Tightened line filled reservoir, ran tractor, occasionally turned steering wheel back and forth. Raised front end and moved wheels from stop to stop several times. Continued to run tractor for several hours continually watching reservoir. Finally cracked fluid line to hydramotor, have a fluid flow, but very low even with higher engine speed. I do not believe pump is operating properly. My manual says the Wooster pump should build 1100 + - psi, do not have a gauge with the capacity to check it. Filter was changed about six months ago, checked it anyway and looked good. I am using Dexron II for fluid. Anyone have any thoughts or checks before I buy pump?

don't know how long it was leaking, but ran it till it quit steering, didn't really get stiff, just quit, that is when I found the leak and no oil in reservoir. Thanks' for your post, thought there should be a lot more fluid flow, or at least spray when line cracked open.
