awhile back I posted about problems I was having with my pto on a mf135. I've finally got into take a look. My problem originally was the ipto was "slamming" in and causing a rucus and breaking shear pins on bush hog. After opening her up I discovered the pick up screen to be plugged. I now have a few questions.
1. When spinning ipto aux pump by hand with finger over output pipe I get a squirt out by one of the gear shafts. After disassembly I see a machined grove in that shaft bore that looks like it was made to squirt some. Is this correct or are the seals on pump cover that are shaped like a "3" shot?
2. Where can I get new seals for this aux pump.
3. The regulating valve has been braze repaired by previous owner. does this simply turn out of hydraulic brake unit? and what is it's purpose. Could this be causing my pto "Slamming?
4. what is the purpose of the modulating valve? could this be the cause of my pto "slamming"?
Let me add that a pressure gauge was used before disassembly and showed 0.

thanks for any and all help. Greg

I had a problem with my 150 IPTO also. No pressure at test port. The intake filter was clogged.

The regulating/relief valve sets the system pressure to around 125 PSI. Same pressure to brake and clutch. The brake, I believe, is not meant to stop rotating equipment, just to hold it.

I sheared several pins on my brush cutter also, found that if you feather the engagement lever to get the cutter going before full engagement cures the problem. Also engage IPTO at idle.

Modulating valve? Don't think it's in the IPTO system. It is in the lift pump and keeps the spool from varnish/sticking, I think?

I can't help you with the pump seals.

Thanks Tom, My I&T shows modulating valve as part of the ipto multiple disc clutch and hydraulic brake unit. the round circular thing in the "u" of the 1/8 inch steel pipe in your first pic. pto engagement handle on left side pushes it up and down. thanks for the help, just don't want to put it back together and have same problem.

Strange description, modulating valve, I'd call it a directional valve. Ports oil to clutch or brake.

I shimmed the pressure valve with a washer on top of spring to increase pressure to system.

I do really like the IPTO system on these tractors. Off/on when you want :)
