Well, since I got the 3 point lift working again on the 202 and put the box blade on it and found out that it was great on my dirt roads, I decided to take the fork lift attachment of the FEL and put the bucket back on it.

After getting the bucket on it I decided to see how strong the FEL was. I turned the bucket all the way down and lowered it to the ground. I'll be darned if it didn't lift the tractors front end off the ground !

On a closer look I discovered to my delight that all the cylinders are double action cylinders. I didn't pay much attention to the loader since it looks exactly like the Davis 101 loader on my 8N and that one has only single action cylinders.

On a closer look at the tag on the 202's loader, it says manufactured by Massey Ferguson, not Davis.

Did Massey Ferguson buy out Davis and start making the loaders?

Yep, Massey bought out Davis somewhere along the line.

If your loader is a MF/Davis 101, you should have a single dump cylinder, correct? Here is a good bit of information on these loaders and their capacities.
Edit- apparently this site won't allow me to post a link. I took a screen shot and attached it below, click that to see the capacities of your loader.

I have a Massey/Davis 99 loader on my MF35 Utility, but someone put double acting rams from a 101 on it. I'd like to get a higher flow pump for it, though.

Yes, they both have a single dump cylinder. The tag on the 8N says it's a Davis 101. I can't read the model number on the 202, all I can read is Massey Ferguson.

I'm sure they are the same loaders with the exception of the double action cylinders on the 202. I measured the hook up points on the buckets on both tractors and the buckets will interchange.

Thanks for the info, but I have been to that site a long time ago. I even got a reprint manual for the 101 loader on Ebay.

I wish I'd been aware of those double action cylinders when I first got the 202. It had a bad front tire that I had to replace. I wouldn't have had to mess around jacking the thing up. I could have just lifted the front with the loader and placed jack stands under it.

(quoted from post at 11:43:37 01/19/17) "Usually" the 202 came with a Davis 99 "usually"! The 100 series loaders isn't that much different.

The one difference between the two is that the controls are on the right side on the 202 and on the left side on the 8N.

I have to remember which side to climb up on depending on which tractor I'm using.
