44 special or 444

I sorta collect classic tractors, have several, was thinking about adding a Harris to my line up, kinda fond of the 44 special, and 444, but have several questions, could u get power steering on both, did they have a 3 pt hitch, live hydraulics on both or either, hydraulic remotes? Live pto? Power adjust wheels seem to be on all the ones I find, for larger tractors I have a DC Case 1953, and 1954 wd45, hoping to get a Massey to keep up with em, please let me know as I'm not versed in Harris tractors. Thanks. Dusty

44 Special could have three point with the factory live hydraulics. May have LPTO option that worked on the right diff side. Factory option power steering and power set rear wheels started with the 444. Dad has a 44 Special gas with add on power steering, three point and LPTO. Also has a 44 Special diesel with the three point option only.

thanks for your response, is the 3 pt cat 1, and how would you use the pto on three point, the pto is higher than upper link, are these pretty stout tractors, seem large and tough enough, read that they may have disc brakes? Thanks again for your time. Dusty

Live pto will have disc brakes. A "looped" top link was used on 44 S with 3 pt, kinda
like a big turnbuckle. 444 had a lower pto shaft.Cat one or two, balls could be
either. Ben

The 444 is probably the most useful, the PTO is lower down, and I think live, could have factory 3 point.

I have a late 44, it has live PTO (sorta), cast wheels and disc brakes.
