MF 85 277 Continental diesel thermostart

I want to replace the thermostart on my 85 that we are restoring and want to know what will work. All of the parts sites do not show anything for it. Will one that goes into a Perkins engine work?
 
Have you looked up the part number? If you don't have a parts manual, agco has them online. Find the part number and look for it that way. This site has a wide variety of stuff in stock and if you don't see it call them. They can get a lot of stuff not listed on the site.

I have an original parts book and it doesn't show it. I took your suggestion and went to AGCO and they have the same page posted and it doesn't show it either.
 
I replaced the thermostart in my 85, will have to look and see which part # I used. Some Perkins used the same thread, but they come in three fuel flow rates. Will try to find in my Delphi notes which one it should have.
 
The threads on mine appear to be 7/8" x 14. The replacements on all the ones I saw never mentioned flow rates but the tractors that they went in varied greatly.
 
Notes show I used the Delphi thermostart # 1854050 in my 85D, should be 7/8 UNF thread. Some thermostarts are 1/2 BSP thread, think that's the size in my TO-35 with the 23C engine.
 
In my 85 parts book I found the thermostart on the electrical system page. It was listed as Manifold heater and the dealer who had the parts book had written the new part number, 893 501 M91 , I searched for
it on the internet and it came up in multiple places. Hope this helps in the future.
