Front tire sizes

Front tires on the '76 MF265 are starting to look rough and cracked. If I had to guess, they are the original 3 rib tires that were put on from the factory. Tread is 'decent'.

The tires are 7.5L-15's. Since the tractor was my wife's uncle's -- she would like (eventually) a complete restore. New rims don't seem to absurd in price (55-60 bucks a pop). I'm curious though if I should stick with the 7.5L's, they seem to be more difficult to find compared to something like a 6.5-16.

Is there any reason I should prefer one size over another? Tractor does a FEL on it which is primarily used for pushing snow around.

Opinions?

Having a loader on it you want tires that are wider so as not to sink in when your on soft ground etc. So the 7.5 is better then the 6.5 or even better go with a tire wider like a 8.5 or 9.5 and maybe a wider rim 15 or 16. I run 245/70R 16s on my loader tractor and they are from a truck so there radial LT tires

Good timing on this post. Noticed yesterday my 135 had a flat tire up front. The sidewalls are all cracked up and not much tread on them anyway. Wife said it was ok to replace the tires every 50 years or so! I have a green light! lol...

Is there any brands that are better than others? Anything to look out for with these 3 rib tires?

I use 7.5 15s 3 ribs on my MF 265 with FEL
just fine. A decent tire shop has these or
get next day. Some like truck tires, but I
prefer 3 ribs to help steer better in mud,
snow and soft ground. Good luck

Stayed with the 6.00-16 size in a 3 rib tire. Did upgrade to an 8 ply though. Mine had a loader that i removed for several reasons but if i can repair it at some point it might go back on. Surprisingly difficult to find tires not made in china. Came across 2 i think but were crazy expensive. We'll see how these sampsons go and how long they last. Seem to have decent reviews at least.

Not even sure where I would start to look for "American made" tires...

Was thinking of picking up a set of: https://simpletire.com/summit-7.5l15-97125-tires for the front. should last me a couple years I suppose.

With a loader truck tires work just fine I know I have been using them on my Ford 841S for decades with no problems

I have no doubt that truck tires would work well with a loader. I don't do a lot of loader work. Mainly pushing snow and lifting the occasional 1,000lb pallet out of hog feed from the back of the truck.

Since the tractor was the first tractor the wife rode and has more sentimental value to her, a partial restore will be in the future and think she'll want "real" tractor tires on it.

Snow traction is pretty important to me, since I move snow from a road with a significant grade.
