MF202 Running Rough

Z134 Continental gas, starts like a champ and runs smoothly for 10-20 seconds, then increasingly rough with some backfires before dying.
New points, plugs, wires, rotor and cap, condenser, ignition switch, no change. Emptied and inspected fuel tank, clean. Fuel cap is newer
and functions correctly. Sediment bulb clear, can blow through it. Elbow strainer in the fuel line near carb clear. New fuel line. Carb gone
through twice by two different people. Air filter/intake clear.

Close to trailering it to a dealer repair shop. They're close and good, but that feels like defeat. Any suggestions?

Mine didn't run well after I rebuilt the carb, and after a real mechanics rebuilt it. Brand new carburetor and it has been great since. Guess we would not get the old one clean enough?

If you can re-smooth it with partial closing of the choke then you may have a fuel/carburetor problem. If not, I'd be taking a long hard look at the condenser. I've had 2 brand new one's fail in the last couple of years - right out of the box.

If you have a timing light, attach it to a plug wire and shine it on something very visible. Look for consistent flashing and when it starts to spit pay attention if the light cuts out or stays flashing. Increase the rpm too and see if that changes things at all.
If you have the clamp on type you can put it around the coil wire too but leave it on idle. Otherwise it'll flash to fast and not be "readable".

You have looked at everything other than the coil . They can break down very strangely . They will sometimes let a tractor start ,then the slightest of heat build up will open up a break causing symptoms just like those in your tractor .
