Have you gone through the ignition yet? Fouled plug(s) can do that. Also check the points for corrosion. How old is the fuel in it? Does it happen when the engine is cold or only when it's hot?

Thanks for the insight. I lucked up, this thing is as close to being show room without the new paint. All original lights and tin perfect.

Back firing can be a lean mixture setting on the carb. Once warmed up and missing can be a problem with the valves needing to have the gap set on them because you have a couple not closing all the way once warm

(quoted from post at 22:29:13 12/01/16) Thanks, also I'm not getting much throttle,

Can you clarify what that means? Can't physically move the throttle? Not getting any rpm with throttle wide open? Lack of power? or... ?

Get under there with a flashlite and check the connections and springs on all the rods. If something is off, the timing advance and the carb butterfly won't mesh.
You got a manual???

Not getting much throttle as in it does not rev up as high in RPM as it should or you only have to move it a little to get wide open??? Linkage and springs cause that type of problems
