3 prong ignition switch

I'm redoing the wiring on my 1964 MF-50 diesel and I ordered a new ignition switch and it came unmarked. I looked at my old switch that is not original and is no help at all. Under the dash was a bird's nest of old and semi new wires. So I removed all wiring and rewiring the tractor. I know where wires go from one gauge to another and so on and I know which three wires go to the ignition switch but where do they hook up on the ignition switch? I though about just moving the wires around on the switch until I got it correct but don't want to risk burning up a new gauge or VR or new starter. I saw a video where someone had the same switch and which terminal was numbered but I don't know which wire goes to 1, 2 or 3. Any help would be great.

It's best to verify the switch terminals with an ohm meter to be 100% sure. Generally, if you're looking at the terminal side of the switch, the far left will be "start" the middle will be "run/on" and the right will be "off"

Hope this is of some help. My 65 diesel has a 3 position key switch. Center is off. Clockwise is start and counterclockwise is start with the Thermo-start.

Thanks, I dropped my meter so I had to run to town and get a new one. Electrical is not my strong side and didn't think about using a meter but will now. Thanks

Thanks Bob and shaeff, with an ohm meter and a little luck I was able to make this work like it was suppose too and get the light switch hooked up also. When I hit the key it fired right up and was ready to go. Just need to tie up a few loose ends and I'll finally be able to see what she can do. Hopefully I'll get a few more years out of her before diving into the motor and trans.
