MF 230 oil pump

Ok my MF specialist I said I'd be needing your help rebuilding my engine this winter and I've started and have a couple of questions already. First some background. I purchased this tractor with a rebuilt engine that had been setting on a pallet for 15 years. I got it all put together and used it for about 3 years not many hours. The oil pump went out and it spun a rod bearing. I took it off and have it in my shop and partly torn down. What I found so far definatly tells me not to take an engine to this shop ever! I have some pictures to show you. First they broke off the corner of the timing backing plate and stuck it back together with silicone. it's hard to see in the first picture but its the right corner on the very top. Should I replace it or try JB Weld I have the piece. Next question is they broke the tabs off of the oil pump I assume trying to pull it together with the bolts. They brazed them back on and I believe they made a spacer and put behind the oil pump or is it supposed to be there.
it's on the left bottom of the second picture. By putting that spacer in they had to grind out a space in the aluminum piece with 2 bolts that goes over the crank where the front oil pan gasket goes so the oil pimp idler gear had room to fit. They made it so thin it broke. this whole thing just don't look right to me can you all give me some advise please? Thanks for the help in advance.

Wallllll, first thing I'd do is politely and calmly make an appointment with the owner go back and ask WTF????

Well I can't the motor was built by Memphis Engine Rebuilders. But it sat for 14 years before I bought it from the man that owned its daughter. She gave me the receipt from them where he paid $1500.00 to them but like I said that was 14 years before I bought it and put it all back together and used it. So no warranty there. I only gave $300.00 for it because I told her husband not running I'll pay scrape price.

I'd find a cover that isn't broken (a tractor salvage yard probably your best bet) if you try to fix it, it will probably always be leaking there. Get a new oil pump (shouldn't be a spacer in there), either have the rod resized, or replace it. See if the crank can be turned down, or replace the crank if it can't be turned down.

Hi, what a complete ****-up (insert your own word). I didn't recognise the additional piece and thought there may be a difference in US engines!!!!!! As PT has said you may be able to find a s/h timing case or they should be available from non-genuine parts suppliers. It will cost but do it right now with a new case and pump AND idler gear and with our help and you won't have any worries after.
