so - I'm looking at the ad for this tractor and and the serial number suggests a 1980 industrial, can anyone here confirm that? - the tractor data page says the transmission should be a 'manual shuttle' - what does that mean in practice? push down on the clutch and throw a lever to reverse direction while leaving the gear and range levers untouched? - does this tractor have that? i see a lever in sixth picture at the left that might be it?

If I go look at this tractor is there anything in particular I should look/test for? - my internet research suggests it's a pretty well regarded tractor -

Yes it does have manual shuttle and that's how it works.

For a 20c the serial number is correct for 1980, the manual shuttle for sure is better than the "instant reverse". The tractor basically is like the MF 245 agricultural tractor, but with some heavy duty components.

How were you able to verify the year based on the serial number - trying to figure out what year mine is.
