MF 175 alternator

Seems that our 175 needs to be revved for the
alternator to start charging. Anyone with any
experience switching to a different alternator ?
Or is there a way to get the oem alternator to
charge at lower rpms?

I had the same thing with my Farmall alternator, a Delco 10SI, and I got a diode assembly form Charlie Uthke [as I recall the name]. It plugs into the top slot, that little 3/4-inch slot on to of the alternator. You run a wire from there someplace... Cahrlie can tell you. Cheap, it really fixed mine, the ammeter runs right over to the right to charge the moment I start, and tapers off. Works great. No revving required. They make a low cut in regulator. I have rebuilt several of those s10 alternators with them and they work great. Still only need 1 wire to battery. here is where I got mine........http://www.alternatorkit.com/index.html
