Hey guys, first of all thanks for the past advice it has been very helpful. After getting the head off of my 175 I noticed the intake manifold was full of dirt. The valves were toast too. So in trying to find out what is going on I look at the air cleaner assembly and it seems like the filter is way too loose to do any king of cleaning. Looking at the Agco parts book it seems like I am missing a locking bar to hold it in. My tractor is serial # 9A56866 so I don't think I am supposed to have an inner filter. Does the locking bar twist in or is there supposed to be a threaded rod or something else holding this thing in? Thanks for any help!

The bar slipped into holes on either side of the air cleaner housing, and one end of the bar had a tab bent up to help center it. The center knob screw was then tightened against the closed filter end. Your engine may be toast if it's been running awhile with the filter loose, allowing dust to enter the engine. Later tractors had an inner safety filter, but the one hundred series did not use it.

On this side of the big pond the 100-series is also fitter with a safety filter in the middle, at least my 168 has one.
Did some of the tractors have an indicator for blocked air filter? My tractor had an unplugged ~5mm port on the filter housing, on the clean side. Can't figure out any other use for it. Mine had been leaking crap inside from it for quite some time, so a good idea to check and plug the port if you have one too.

Here in the states you can put a inner air filter in the early 100 series by getting the proper nut, and spring. Uses the same inner, and outer filter as the late production 100 series.
