Rough ride on the MF202

I got the power steering pump repaired and back on the 202 today. It has that steel bucket seat with no spring under it and no pad on it. My nephew scrounged up a padded cushion seat about 4 inches thick that just fit into the bucket.

This is the first time I've actually gotten to test drive the thing around my property and boy, I sure miss that spring seat on the old 8N. Even with that cushion under me, my back seemed to feel every little jolt. I actually ordered the correct seat and back cushion for the thing, but I"m wondering if even that will improve things any. I can imagine driving that thing around brush hogging my property for an hour or two. I'm not looking forward to it.

I don't want to pay half of what I paid for the tractor for a seat.

My brothers 135 has the pads with the original seat, and it's ok for limited use. But I think you will be ordering the suspension seat, I can sit for 6 hours straight on it, and my lower back doesn't complain afterwards.

Hey Caryc. If you were near by I would love to trade you a nice steel flip pan seat
for your deluxe Ferguson bucket seat. I have a 35 with that seat and love it, I have
even put one of them on my 8n, and would like to put one on my TEA2085. I am from
Saskatchewan Canada.

While you're doing this, add some lumbar support. You will thank yourself a LOT if you can do that.

way back when we had a to-20 with a pan seat and a to-35 with the deluxe seat. gimme that deluxe seat any day. I have five 35's with the prescribed seat cushion but I do not put the little back on as it makes me sit a little too far forward.

(quoted from post at 05:11:36 11/07/16) just a thought. might your rear tires be OVER inflated?

That's a good thought. I just got this 202 so I've never checked those rear tires. I'll do that today.

I called the place I ordered the seat pads from this morning and managed to cancel the order, so I went ahead and ordered the suspension seat from YT. I'll let you guys know how I like it.

It has a knob on the backside to adjust the spring suspension which is really nice. You can also move the seat back or forward, just lift a lever, and slide it to where you want it.

(quoted from post at 16:00:20 11/07/16) What is the material on that seat? How well does it hold up to living outside?

If you don't tarp your tractor, you can always just cover the seat with a couple lawn and leaf bags to keep the sun and weather from it.

Have it sitting under a partial car port but wouldn't hurt, hopefully, to put a small tarp over it. Problem with this part of the high desert mountains is it's mouse and pack rat country. Those buggers get under anything covered and make a huge mess. I even have mouse and rat traps set in the engine compartments of our vehicles and check/reload daily.

Well, I got the power steering fixed on my MF202 Workbull. I just finished installing the new seat. I'm so glad ptfarmer talked me into getting the spring seat instead of just the stock type seat pads for it.

Just took a test drive around the property and there is a world of difference in the ride. Next, I need to adjust the brakes. Here's a few pics of it. I absolutely love the power steering and the foot throttle and the Hi / Lo transmission and now I love that new seat.

I also find that having some counterweight on the back smooths out the ride. When I take the backhoe off mine it's a very rough ride!! I have the suspension seat on my 35 and just love it!
