I think the power steering pump is letting fluid into the crankcase, anyone have experience putting a seal kit in a ps pump for a 1969 mf175 diesel? How hard is it? Do they last? Better off to replace
The pump? Thanks!!

I changed one on my 40b, the seal had popped out and it was pretty easy fix. I was at the dealer when 2 guys came in and asked about changing the seal, the MF guy was explaining the procedure and how difficult it was. After they left I asked because mine went very easy. He said the difference was that my seal had popped out, they were going to need to remove their old seal, not the easiest thing to do. that is my experience, hope it helps

With a seal you never know, one that may look easy to change can be a nightmare. While one that looks really difficult to remove may pop right out.

Ok, I'll have to put it on my winter list.

By the way, the split, clutch replacement, rear main
seal and input shaft seals job was a success, many
thanks to you and others for helping me out along
the way!
