MF 275 hydraulic selector valve??

I am all confused as to what a hydraulic selector valve (that bolts on top of the housing just under the seat) is supposed to do. My MF 275 does not currently have one of these and my loader control valve is connected to one set of the rear hydraulic outlets and the corresponding control lever must be tied forward for the loader to work. Do I need to get one of these selector valves in order to have the loader to be operational all the time and free up the rear hydraulic outlets?
If so, how are these valves supposed to be plumbed or where are the hoses supposed to connect??
These Massey's are confusing to a JD man....

Thanks in advance for any help.

If the tractor has the TWO spool valve then a separate two spool loader valve is not needed, loader lift and tilt cylinders can be hooked directly to the tractor. If the tractor has the SINGLE spool valve and it feeds the two spool loader valve that's why it needs the lever held on. You don't need the selector valve as your tractor already has the auxiliary pump inside. The selector valve works off the separate three point pump. Early MF tractors did not have the auxiliary pump and external spool valve option, and then the selector valve was used for loader use.
