Continental N62 Governor???

I have an Allis G with a Continental N62 engine. Is the Ball Governor a direct replacement for the Spider Weight?
The Allis G parts book only list the Spider Weight Governor. MH Pony shows both with application depending on serial number. I don't know if it's tractor serial number or engine serial number.
I have acquired a Ball Governor, but the "tab" on the "cup" is missing. I'm assuming the tab engages with something to prevent rotation.
Do these tabs break off? If so, I would be concerned it would get into my new timing gears, which would not be a good thing. Or, would it be removed for a reason based on application?
Although not badly worn, the Ball Governor I have has wear spots indicating the cup has been rotating with the flyball assembly. If the tab is necessary, I can buy a new Pony governor, if it is a direct replacement for my old spider weight.
My engine serial number is N62-2365 with the straight cut connecting rods.
Any good advice will be appreciated.
Thanks
