Hey guys I am pulling my oil pan on my 175 diesel as it has developed a loud knocking sound. I checked the injectors like dieseltech told me to and they checked out ok. I pulled the valve cover to see if a valve went funky but no luck so the pan is next. Anyways I am looking at the two large bolts on the front of the pan I think they took a 15/16 wrench. I cannot get them to budge. Is it ok to put heat on the pan where the threaded bolt is or do I need to look at a different rout? Thanks.

You may need to use extra length for more leverage, those bolts can be really tight. I've never had to heat anything to get them out.
