MF 40 Hand Throttle Problem

I recently bought a one-owner gas 1970 MF40 with loader no backhoe, manual shuttle, live and ground speed PTO and 3Pt with about 2k hours. It belonged to a small construction company. They quit using it when they bought nicer stuff. The problem I have is the hand throttle has something wrong as it does nothing and does not stay in position either. The root of the problem appears to be that what ever keeps the rod from sliding down toward the engine has broken. I can not figure out what keeps the hand throttle rod from the instrument panel from sliding down and through the tension disc (under the battery on the right side) when it is pulled down by the tension from the governor. The spring for the hand throttle (and apparently the bracket) is also missing as I can't figure out where the spring would attach once I get it. Could someone with a similar tractor (I think the auto shuttle is the same from the parts books)send some photos or get in contact with me.

go into AGCO parts book its free to use I included a link at the bottom of the post
when the page comes up scroll down past the sign in and go to guest user and click view books
on the next page type 40 into the search by model and then change brands to Massey Ferguson in the search
scroll down the related list till you see 40 tractor
you can now look at every part n assembly on your tractor and find part #s as well
sometimes their site is slow or wont load may have to try a few times mostly it works no problem
just never know
agro parts

I have been to the site and can not find anything on the site which shows what holds the hand throttle rod in place. I am missing three parts but the absence of the parts is not the problem. They all have to do with balancing the tension so the throttle pulls evenly against the governor springs. The site is not very good showing any brackets which might be under the instrument panel or other places to hold the rod in place. Either photos of an actual tractor or a few pages from assembly instructions would be appreciated.

I know this is a very old post that was not answered and I m not expecting SpottedWonders to still be waiting for an answer, but I ran into this same problem recently with my MF40 industrial and I believe I have the answer to the problem. The part that is supposed to keep the hand throttle from sliding down is the stamped lugs that engage the keyed washer that the friction discs act on. The lugs on the shaft as originally made for this washer let the washer engage but do not let the washer slide up past the lugs. If the lugs on the shaft have rusted significantly the special washer can slide up (shaft slides down) past the lugs and now the the rotation friction on the washer is no longer transmitted to the hand throttle shaft. The fix I used was to put some tack welds on the upper end of the lugs. I m sure with a hammer and punch one could also bulge the lugs enough to keep the washer locked on the lugs
