Hi all I am new to the forum and have a question. Recently bought a MF 175 1967-68 and noticed a knocking from the diff housing after a few months of use.
I first thought the dowel pins to the pump but they were ok. I have removed the lift cover and pump and found my problem to be PTO Clutch Assembly Adapter Housing Mount it had a bolt in it that was all wallered out the one that goes through the PTO shift cover. I found no bolt for this in the parts list or in the disassembly instructions. does anyone know what the original mounting bolt or stud was? I have engouh left to helicol a 3/8 bolt but want to make sure this is proper.

thanks ahead of time

Hello,
I can't find a reference for the IPTO in the 175/178 online parts books and suspect that IPTO was an option available
on later tractors. Looking at the 188 book which should be the same it shows the dowel as part number 1860 676M1.
Clearly there is major wear in the locating hole of the IPTO body. By its colour it is not an original MF part. The
MF part would be a metal self-colour. For this amount of wear to have taken place suggests that the dowel in the side
cover was probably too short, hence the wear area being quite shallow. Of equal concern would be possible wear in the
circular part of the body where the sealing rings locate. If there is axial or peropheral wear here you will lose a
lit of PTO oil pressure. With this in mind it might be beneficial to find out the cost of a new genuine MF or non-gen
IPTO body and a new or s/h side cover and dowel before contemplating any sort of recovery repair. The last thing
needed would be to have to split the tractor again.
