Input shaft inner oil seal

When changing the inner oil seal on a 175, the
Manual calls for a special tool. Any experience out
There in changing the oil seal without the special MF tools?

I have no idea, but on my Farmall there was supposed to have been a special tool to pull in a steering shaft seal. Does not exist in this universe. I made up a gizmo out of sockets, washers, duct tape, all-thread, nuts and other washers and rigged it all up and pulled in the seal. I ruined the first seal, bent the second, and got the third in just right.
IN MY CASE I WAS to install the seal so the U-shape cup fills up with grease; in other words, I had to pull it in the difficult way. But it worked. Ya gotta be inventive sometimes.

Possibly, if I knew what/where they are - are you referring to the multi power valve in the bell housing? or the trans and pto input shafts?

I just got done doing the same job on my 175 with multipower. The rubber seals I used a socket to tap them in place. Make sure to put them in the right direction. Also, if you put them in the freezer overnight, it will make it go in a bit easier. Just go slow and don't force it. Just tap tap till it seats.
