MF 65 stuck in 1st gear

Ok so I am raking hay in 2nd on the high side......got to a hill, down shifted to 1st......up and over and got ready to go to 2nd and the shifter looks like it is in 2nd but I am in 1st..........do I just take the shifter out and realign the forks? or what???

HELP

My 841 ford will do that once in a while and when it happens I can put it back into first and then slowly and carefully ez it out of 1st and all will be fine for a while till I move it to fast again. If your shifting on the fly that too can be where your problem is since tractor are made to be shifted form a stop

Common problem when shifting too fast. With the engine off, place the HI-LO lever in neutral-start position. This removes any gear tension. Remove the oil fill plug and with a long bar move the large gear-fork back, this should get the shift lever to cross over again. Shift slower, and don't lift the shift lever as that can make it happen too.

I knew you would have the answer.......tractor has over 7500 hours on it so it worn.........LOL

I tried that in the field........just didn't take time probably

THANKS
