Massey 240 re-wire

When I told a tractor parts dealer/repairer who knows a lot about the old Massey's, that my 240 needs a re-wire, he told me that there was no loom for a 240 and that I should use the loom for the 135. I ignored his advice and imported a loom from Ireland listed for the 240. He was right I was wrong...the loom is nothing like what it should be for my tractor. I think the loom is for a much later version of the 240. Back to square one and I got the 135 loom. The new loom does away with nearly all the dash lights, the front and rear lights, the nightmare fuse box and anything else not absolutely essential.

The dealer's in-house electrician has marked up all the leads for me so theoretically I should be able to just plug n play BUT I know nothing about electrics and there isnt an auto electrician who can help me, anywhere near here.
So I may need some help from you guys as I go along....

I posted this up on the talk board with your other post but I'll repost it here as well

whats your location RedMF
there maybe someone within reason that might be able come over n help you in person
if your close enough to me I would be glad to help

as a tractor is a pretty basic of a wiring setup I usally just make up my own wiring harness
they won't match the colour charts but they work well and are trouble free
as you say you have no running lights
you need a heavy wire from your alt to battery or the main post on starter for charging as you don't
have an amp guage
one keyed through a light to excite your alt and one for your coil
if it's got an oil light keyed wire to light and then from light to the oil pressure switch
one from the key to main post on your starter or to the positive post on the battery to give voltage
at the key
one from your key switch back to the small stud on the starter to activate the solenoid

Thanks.
To save confusion, I think it would be best if this thread could be deleted and any future replies posted in the talk section thread.
