New Clutch - Tractor Won't Move

Put a new clutch kit in the MF 250 and after putting the tractor back together it won't move. Are there some adjustments I need to make? Took the bottom inspection plate off and saw when you depress the pedal it pushes in on the clutch and then when you let off the pedal it lets off on the clutch/pressure plate. Now....the fingers are still against the throwout bearing when you let off the pedal. Do the little finger bolts need adjusting, or the throwout bearing, or the outside pedal linkage? Or what?????

I got the tractor to crawl back about 15 feet but that was it

Did you by chance get the disk in backwards?? If you did that will cause odd problems. Or if you force the 2 half back together that can break the disk and cause that

The finger bolts should not touch the bearing with the clutch pedal up, if it's like other MF tractors you need to adjust the clutch shaft clamp the pedal moves. Sounds like the bearing contact you have is allowing the clutch to slip, not fully engaged.

X2 on the clutch pedal adjust, the clutch pedal should have around 3/4"-1" of free play.

Have you taken the 3 bolts out that hold the pressure plate to allow you to fit the clutch? 7/16" AF spanner fits them, you can get them from
below thru the inspection hole.
You will then need to re-adjust.
The fingers should not contact the release bearing when clutch pedal free travel is correct, fingers are normally pre-set on a new kit and
will normally have Locktite visible. If not they will need adjusting, otherwise carry out the external adjustments to give correct pedal free
play.

We got it!!! Thank you all so much for the help. Yes we took those bolts out. The person who did it last time didn't though. I also found out that the PTO has a high and low speed. At first I was thinking the PTO had problems disengaging but quickly found out the "off " position was in the middle of the lever. Glad it got it!

(quoted from post at 21:11:41 09/18/16) When the pto lever is all the way forward it is in ground pto. position.

What does ground PTO mean? I thought the forward position was low and rear position was high.

In the ground speed position the pto will turn backwards when the tractor is in reverse . This can completely ruin some implements . Good for untangling wire and rope from under a grass slasher though :)

This works great for our PTO hay rake. You can run a gear higher and idle the engine down for the light load and still get good PTO speed.

(quoted from post at 14:14:45 09/18/16) Some equipment used ground pto like fertilizer spreaders, planter, etc. The faster the ground speed of the tractor, the faster the pto turns.
