engine cut out

Puzzled: after replacing the fuel lifter injector pump and bleeding the system the tractor started right away, it ran for 2 hours and the engine cut out. i was able to bleed the system and get the tractor running again but for only 5 minutes then it cut out again. any information is appreciated!
Cheers,
Muskie Jim

Make sure if NAPA/WIX filters are used that there's NO O ring in the filter top OUTER groove next to the base sealing lip, that's the fuel inlet. Common mistake is putting an extra O ring in there, restricting fuel flow. Also make sure the lift pump is working, some times they die when a check valve fails inside. Also make sure the constant air bleed fitting on top of the filter base is not plugged, it allows trapped air to get out and go back to the tank, along with the injector top bleed off line. If plugged air goes to the injection pump, causing shut down.

thanks for your reply! i replaced the napafilters with a delphi style filter and was able to bleed the system right away. i was just a little miffed as why it would run 2 hours and cut out.
Question: is the air bleed port you mention at top of filter, is it on the outside top, or inside top
thanks for your info

On the outside top some on some of the fuel filters bases there is a banjo fitting with a small metal line (something like 3/16" dia) that is the air bleed port.

On the top of the filter base, can be a banjo bolt orifice or straight orifice fitting, just make sure it's open. Also check the fuel cap, if the engine dies again and all is quiet remove the cap, if you hear air rushing in the cap vent is plugged. Happened to the neighbor's White last spring, would run about an hour then die. Fuel can't get out of the tank if air can't get in..
