Massey Ferguson Salad

Found this in a shed near me. Looks like a lot of same parts as my 165 but this is diesel. Shuttle no pto so presume industrial. Would the parts from this convert my 165 from gas to diesel? Interesting looking machine that was fun to look at. Can he had for around 500. I will probably grab it for parts if the parts would work. Was told spun bearing.

What that probably is, is a MF 3165 industrial, pretty much a 165 painted yellow, but with options not found on a farm 165. You would need the correct flywheel for the clutch on your 165, and you could sell off some the other parts like the torque convertor, and other items you don't need from it. It's easily way past the $500 alone in parts (a new hood for a 165 is around $800) so you really can't loose with that deal. I would already have it paid for, and on my trailer headed home.

I have a 1965 MF 2135 industrial, and 1967 MF 135, and except for the heavy duty front axle, and the manual shuttle shift transmission (6 forward, 6 reverse gears) the 2135 industrial is the exact same as the 135.

Great information. So from what you are saying
the gas and diesel flywheels are different? Hmmm.
Ok. Normally would have it but I am really close to
the patience limit for the misses. I will find a way
and then focus on the road more.

I'd say 500 is about right. Every brand of engine has a different flywheel- Continental, Standard ,Perkins, 'cause each bolt to the crank differently, and the starter teeth are usually different IIRC.

The Perkins gas is a 4.212, the Perkins diesel in the US is the 4.203, The flywheel is different between the two, as for the misses its better to ask for forgiveness than permission

The flywheel from the Perkins gas is different from the Perkins diesel. You need part number 734861M91 "dual clutch diesel flywheel". The clutch from the gasser should work.
