MF135 3 pt. lift barely working

Hi Guys,

My 1967 135 I bought six months ago has always had somewhat of a weak lift, but it was enough to lift the brush hog and box blade fully. Well here recently it now doesn't want to lift anything more than 6 inches to a foot off the ground. Another observation that's abnormal is the position control has to be at least half way back before the lift arms will start to operate. I've changed the filter and fluids in the past few months.

Can you give me some tips on what to check out? I plan to pull the right side cover and observe the pump for leaks, but I've never done it before so any guidance is appreciated.

Another thing I noticed is that it lifts better without the top link hooked up, so maybe I've got an issue there with the control spring?

Seems like I work on this tractor more than I use it.

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi Jeff,
You are probably on the right track with a problem with the control spring.
If you connect a chain between the lugs and the top link attachment on your implement the 3-pt should work at least
more efficiently that when connected to the tractor's top link. If this is the case then the control spring mechanism
needs attention..
Fully lower the DRAFT lever and check the top link yoke for endfloat. Ideally there should be none. If you have end
float it should be removed and readjusted and the rubber boot replaced if perished.
There are plenty of posts here about how to go about it or come back and we'll talk you through the procedure.
Let us know what you find.

My TO-30 acts the same way. It will lift my 5 ft blade but nothing heavier than that. I replaced the pressure relief valve but that didn't
help.
