MF 150 diesel -- Rotary Cutter size

For a MF 150 - 45.5 HP what is your opinion on the optimal
size bush hog this tractor can handle. I've got about 35 acres
to keep mowed. I've been told 4 ft and Ive been told it can
handle a 6-7 ft

I have a 5' for my MF135 diesel, and I have used a 6' on it too and it handled it fine so long as you slow down a bit. A MF150 should handle at least a 6'. Whoever told you to use a 4' brush hog is way off.

Thx! I guess better to buy a little bigger and can always slow down and make more narrow cuts if mowing really thick

I run a 7' shredder wide behind a 135, and a 150, when you are in areas where its not thick or a tall you can use the whole width. Should you get into thick, and tall areas you can just move over so you are using only 6' of the cutter, that's what I do instead of slowing down.

It is always helpful to have a hog that will cut out your tire track but not required.
I would not hesitate to run an 8 footer if it's flat ground and fairly thin grass but a 7 footer is probably the best choice.
I run a hog at rated PTO RPM and gear for what it can handle. If too thick I do what ptfarmer does. Your mileage may vary :)

Whoever told you 4 feet is nuts. I've run a 5 foot mower on my 8N fot ten years and it handles it just fine.

Just purchased a MF 202 Workbull though and am working through a few problems with it. I would rather do my mowing with it though since it has power steering and a foot throttle. I have high hopes for it. Also has a FEL as does my 8N.

You can run a 7' mower behind your 202. My 2135 has the same engine as your 202, and it ran the same 7' mower that I run behind my 135 diesel, and my brothers 150 diesel.

Thanks, now all I have to do is figure out where to get the money for a seven foot mower.
