MF35 steering acting up

I've had this tractor for about two years now. It's great (well, except for the seat, but that's another story!) for all the little chores and sickle bar mowing we use it for. Recently, however, I'm having some recurring issues with the steering. If I adjust the steering using the screws at the bottom of the steering column so that the front end doesn't wobble at road speed, the power steering is basically nonfunctional. That being said, the steering seems like it loosens up every 10 hours of use, so I feel like I'm adjusting it a lot. Is this normal?

Here's a picture.:) my favorite tractor job on the farm...tedding!

Sorry, I can't help you with your problem but I've heard the word "tedding" a lot. What exactly is it?

No worries.:) tedding is just the act of going over the windrows with the Tedder which throws the hay up and spreads it out to speed up the drying process. In my neck of the woods, with the humidity we deal with, the only way to get first cutting of hay dry (and often second cutting too!) is to tedd it.

I've got another cutting of hay to get in now, but what is entailed in rebuilding the steering column? Are there rebuild kits available?

Rebuilding the steering box isn't cheap especially the ones with power assist. The last one I rebuilt, the more I got into it the more parts I found that were needed. By the time I had all the parts I could have bought a rebuilt box for less. It's something I would suggest to research around, someone could be offering kit now (it's been awhile since I last rebuilt one).
