Massey F. 253 tractor:

Today I found some Tractor Hydraulic Fluid on sale for $25.00 for 5 gallons. The only problem is I don't know if it's ok to use in my transmission. The only identifying factors on the oil is it is labeled 303. It's a good deal if I can use it but I don't want to buy it if it isn't suited for my tractor. If anyone knows if 303 Tractor Hydraulic Fluid is ok to use in my transmission, please let me know..

Thank you,
Dick

I always think you can't save money by hiring the cheapest electrician, and you can't save money by using some strange lubricants you found someplace. You save a few dollars and risk permanent damage to a transmission? Not me.

I think the 253 has wet brakes so the 303 may work (I'm not 100% sure). I can't find what MF spec oil is required in the MF parts book for the 253.

Well, you weren't a big help..
That's why I asked the question on this site. It's not cheap oil (what oil is). The oil is on sale and normally costs as much as any other universal hydraulic tractor fluid.
No, I'm not one to use a lubricant or anything else just because it's cheap. If it's on sale at a good price and I can use it, I'll buy it.
