MF 235 no fuel past filter housing

I can get no fuel past filter and why
won't the outlet lines pull out of the
housing. It's like they're stuck in some
kind of rubber bushing or gasket. I've
got good flow from the charge pump to
the filter but none out the other
side.Any ideas?

If you have NAPA/WIX filters did you make the common mistake of putting an O ring in the filter top outer groove? That's the filter inlet, it needs to be open. CAV filters don't have that problem as the flow is different.

The filter TOP is sealed by the O ring in the BASE GROOVE. If there's an O ring in the filter top outer groove that restricts/ shuts off the fuel flow on NAPA/WIX filters. I've lost count how many service calls made to correct that mistake.

Hi Dieseltech
Is there any chance you could post pictures and explain this a bit better to guys, I been reading this comment for months thinking about it and been kinda confused by it without a filter in front of me. Then I happened to pick up a wix filter to fit it and maybe the penny suddenly dropped what you meant. You need a ring in the filter housing outer groove on the bit bolted to the engine or what ever . But i think what you mean is not in the small 1/8th -1/4 inch inch gap between the filter outer tin casing, and the tin top inside the filter where the paper is?.
I've changed probably a 1000 filters including wix and a few other brands it confused me so a newbie is gonna be totally lost figuring out what he might of done wrong if he's never done it before.

Don't have a photo, but it's very obvious when the fuel flow is followed. Better yet, compare the NAPA/WIX with a CAV filter. On both the CLEAN fuel comes up the center. The top where the fuel enters the filter is the difference. The top outer lip is sealed by the base groove O ring on both. Problem is where guys see the open groove just inside that lip on the NAPA/WIX that's the fuel inlet, and put an extra O ring in there thinking it needs one, restricting or stopping the flow completely..

Are you Blue yet.. I had just read the Post with the pictures of the NAPA filter and read your comment also. Then i was reading this post and saw your comment. Made me laugh. Maybe there should be a YT class on NAPA filters. LOL
