Spirit of America Massey

Spirit of America Massey...Most people think the original was a 1155 because of the diecast made by Ertl (made an 1155 because they've never made the 1135 diecast), but it was actually a 1135. Does anyone know what happened to the original?

No, it just a "plane jane" with electric start. It's all original except for the engine, it was replaced with another Tecumseh hm80 8hp engine.

I have one just like that, and the Hydro model too. Think you were told the wrong year though, the 7 started in 1968, and the 8 replaced it in 1972. Dealer I worked for sold several Hydro 7 and 8 models, they really did a good job mowing with the full roller across the back.

The place online where I looked up the year model (I forget which website) said it was 1965 going by the serial number. This one has the 3 speed manual transmission, my dad bought it for $100 (the original engine would get real hot, and seize up, it would run again after it cooled off). He also got the "snow blade?" for the front with it. It's a fun little mower, cuts pretty good with new blades on it.

Do you not see the little Massey Ferguson garden tractors driving around the "Spirit of America Massey" 1135 which in itself is a nice tractor.

I agree brian worst thing about yt.so was the 1135 for 76 bice and was that a mf ad or just a pic

It would be interesting to find out what happened to that 1135. Some MF dealers made their own version of a Spirit of America Massey like this 1155.

The original 1135 was done by Massey and it toured the country (fairs) in 76.

This one actually was sold last year at action by a guy that built it himself (notice the aftermarket cab) He also sold a clone of a case spirit of 76 at the same auction.
