Mf 65 indirect injection pump

OK my good old 65 was rebuilt 475 hours ago, had injectors popped off then were ok, at 350 hours I started having hard having miss. Took injectors out, they needed to be rebuilt were original. Fine did
that all was good. Now I am running a 10ft brushhog on it clipping pasture. We have gone to either (gasp) to start on a 75 degree morning. Slow pickup on rpm's and some smoke.

I have, changed both fuel filters, checked the sediment bowl, have good fuel flow to pump.

It gradually got worse on starting. I knew the starter was weak, rebuilt, good battery too. Turns over great.

I can be running along at pto and next thing I know going up a small hill back to 1200 or slower. No "snap" anymore. Injector pump is my choice for next R&R.

Question......how many different pumps are on 65's.........mine is DPA3243-f610 cav pump.

I don't have 600-900 dollars to rebuild pump. I know where another 65 is setting for parts......not sure if it is indirect or direct injection...

Have looked on here for answer and never found it searching and even on Google...........

SO can someone that reading this help me on the information. THANKS

The indirect injection pump has different numbers than the direct injection pump so you need a indirect pump. I'd take the injector pump you have, and have it tested first. I would also do a compression test on the engine just to be sure it's still ok (having to use either on a 75 degree morning to start it bothers me) before you start swapping parts.

yes I agree.......I will take have checked....but the rebuilt injectors put more load on the pump and I burn waste oil it too about 50/50 mix
Haven't had any troubles with that for over 5 years and I burn it in everything.

I'm not a big fan of burning used oil in a diesel engine even if its filtered really good (down to 1 micron). The me the 50/50 mix is way too much used oil (especially if it wasn't filtered really good), probably what trashed your injectors.

nope they were original with over 7000 hours........documented

I actually do filter to 1 micron 3x...........bluegrass fuel system is what I use

ask when I took the injectors into very reliable place if any out of ordinary wear of any kind they looked and I talked to 2 people said no.

I had used those injectors for about 800 total hours before rebuild Tractor had working tach and knew where it came from even had original head gasket since #'s were out of date. Shop took engine to
could not believe how clean engine and head was.
honest

do a search for blue grass fuel system same thing military is using to use up oil in multi fuel systems

Be very careful using starting fluid. You can break rings and piston lands. At 475 hours on a rebuild, you should not need starting fluid. Something is amiss (no pun intended). Make sure you don"t have a restricted fuel line (pinched line, clogged tank strainer, blocked return line), full throw on the throttle linkage, etc. Check compression and if you don"t have restricted fuel or low compression send the pump in.

I can reseal and run a DPA on my stand for $450.00. This is with a one year warranty. 231/757/0064. I have done two in the last week so I am up to a third if this will help you.

I was told a diesel engine is designed to burn diesel fuel. Not bio deep fry grease, not olive oil, not used engine oil. No mater how careful you clean it, the end results are not worth it. Before you tear anything apart, flush ALL that out, change filters, and see what happens... burning just clean diesel fuel... trying to save 10 bucks might cost you 1000....

The pump # you have is the latest one for the indirect injection MF 65. Most I repair are nowhere near that expensive. Do you get white smoke on starting attempts? If so you are getting fuel to the cylinders but don't have the compression heat high enough to burn it. If I recall your pump has the light load advance feature that's best set on the pump stand. Later 65 with the AD4.203 did not use it, they were fixed phase timing. Don't put a late pump on the early indirect injection engine.

been there done that before......nope didn't help.....I run 100 hp ac, backhoe, 2 7.3's, 6.9, 2 85 hp masseys, fiat allis track loader 135 hp all on mix of used oil and diesel...probably have total over 3000
hours on them together. Am very careful with the oil, lots is transmission fluid. I filter and have only clogged 2 filters in 5 years......same machine so I think tank was dirty. Saw what you want......blue
grass fuel system works for me.

Pump was worn out, could not be tested because they have to tear them down to make sure nothing is floating around in these type pumps to destroy test equipment.
I asked to be called after was torn down...........NO unusual wear of any type in the pump. Guy I spoke with told me he doesn't tell many people this....but to keep doing what I am doing with my fuel....it sure is NOT messing with the pump at all..........made me feel good and the guy I spoke with has worked with pumps 30+ years.
