mf 240 diesel air bleeding

Does anyone have the instructions on how to bleed the air from the injection pump and injectors when replacing the fuel filters on a Massey Ferguson 240? Thanks for the info.

Yeah, but it's a full complete page Page #63 of the owner's manual, with two detailed complex pictures. Id recommend a owner's manual. Just FYI, I did the procedure, and had no faith on my abilities, but I followed the procedure and it worked.

If no book is around the best way is to start at the tank, bleed each filter until it's free of trapped air, then the injection pump bleed screws doing the lower one first. Then loosen all injector lines and crank the engine no more than 30 seconds at a time to save the starter until you see air free fuel at the injectors. Once that's done tighten the lines and start the engine. NOTE, if NAPA-WIX filters are used MAKE SURE the mistake of putting an O ring in the top outer groove was not done, that's the filter INLET. I've seen too many times guys put an O ring in that groove cause it "fits". When it happens it restricts or stops the fuel flow completely.

patience!

Use the hand pump lever on the fuel pump to fill both fuel filters (leave bleed screw open etc) You may have to bump engine on starter to get a full stroke on the hand lever.

Then crack injector lines on the block (3) keep cranking engine (intermittantly) until you get fuel, tighten one line, then crank and repeat. It takes a while for it to pick up, but it will.
