My brother sent me this pic, asked me if I knew anything about them. Pro/con, year, etc.

Thanks

I didn't need tractordata data, I wanted to hear pros and cons from people that have used them or own them.

Tractor data isn't going to tell you they have weak rear axles, and watch out for the small dime sized part in the steering column that costs 1250$ and is only available on mars, in the future.

Thanks

It's kind of like a 135 on steroids, a turbocharged Perkins ad3.152 diesel 60 hp! I wouldn't mind having it. The $10,000 question does it have a clutch, or the torque converter, not to fond of the ones with the torque converters. I don't have any 40E serial number data, but a call to these guys may help http://www.gbdorning.com/ They were a MF industrial dealer back when MF built industrial equipment, their parts guy should have an idea about parts availability.

From what I see it could be a synchro 8 or shuttle 6 tranny.

Was the shuttle the one with a tc and the synchro with clutch?

Thanks.

The torque converter had their own "automatic" transmission, the synchro, and constant mesh transmissions should have a clutch (either dual, or split torque). Dorning really helped me out to find parts for my old 1965 MF 2135 industrial with the manual shuttle shift 6 speed.
