MF204 transmission fluid clarification

Last week I picked up a MF204 with the Revers-O-Matic transmission. The owner's manual says the transmission differential and hydraulics share a combined 8 gallons of SAE 80 or 90, Then it says the Revers-O-Matic and torque convertor take 2.5 gallons of type A transmission fluid. For the life of me I cannot find the fill/drain plugs for the tranny fluid portion of this system. As a sidebar, my gear lube is a yellowy color, is that normal? The reason I ask about the tranny fluid is I'm having trouble getting the low torque range (12ftlb) to kick in, I'm only getting the 40ftlb and it's kind of herky jerky.

How'd I do for my first post?

The fill plug is by the forward and reverse pedals above the foot platform. Use red Automatic Transmission Fluid (Type F now). The transmission has a torque converter similar to cars. If it gets low on oil, it won't move. They can be a little jerky if you don't stop before changing direction. Keep RPMs low when starting and it will be smoother.

Yellow gear oil could be from water mixing with it. You could drain it, fill with a few gallons of kerosene and drive it around the yard a few times, then drain and refill with new gear oil.

Thanks for the reply Larry. The plug by the Forward Reverse pedals has the same yellowy fluid as the dipstick under the seat on the right side, perhaps someone put the same fluid in both? either way I think they both need a good flush. I replaced the shift boots, that may have been the source of some of the water. If anyone needs the owner's manual on PDF let me know, it's not very descriptive at times but much better than the shop manual at general info.

Thanks,
Bob

Hi Bob, I could use the PDF manual if you still have it. My email is crumrw at gmail dot com. Thanks for the offer.

Hi Bob. I have just gone through the same process of changing fluids and stumbled through it figuring out the two different fluids and searching the net for modern equivalents. Should have just posted like you did. I would appreciate the PDF copy if your still offering? Jklmt at telus dot net.
Thanks Kevin.
